FAQ

What is my username for SHOPUTS?
Your SHOPUTS Username is the same as your Panther ID. System authentication is case sensitive, so make sure you enter the username in lowercase letters!
Don't have a Panther ID ?

If you do not have a Panther ID, you will not be able to use SHOPUTS at this time. All students enrolled at FIU and taking at least one course in the current semester automatically have access to a Panther ID.

If you are a new student, Panther ID account will be available 24 hours after you register.

What is my password for SHOPUTS?
The generic format of your initial password is the two-digit birth month, two-digit birth day, and the four-digit birth year. For example, if your birth date is 05/07/1915, then your password is 05071915.

I still can’t log on!
SHOPUTS can email you a new password by clicking the “Recover Password” link on the main front page. You must provide your FIU email (doej@fiu.edu include the @fiu.edu) but it is NOT your E- mail alias (John.Doe@fiu.edu).
Contact the SHOPUTS Office at 305-348-2284 Option 5 to get additional help on logging into SHOPUTS.

What else do I need to know?
To SHOPUTS, you will also need to do the following:
1. Turn off any Pop-up suppressor/blocker applications
2. Enable Active Scripting in your browser

Why don't you sell a full version of the Windows operating system (XP or Vista)?
Microsoft restricts volume licensing programs to operating system upgrade products only. If the full system product is required, it must be purchased commercially.

What methods of payment do you accept?
Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. FIU Procards are not accepted.

Who is eligible to purchase student software from SHOPUTS?
Faculty, Staff and Students that are currently enrolled and/or employed at Florida International University.

Can I continue using the software after I graduate?
When a student purchases a product from SHOPUTS, the product becomes the property of the student. The product will not terminate or expire (except for SPSS and SAS which are sold for 6 and 12 month periods) simply by virtue of the termination, suspension, or other interruption of the student's status as an enrolled student at Florida International University.

Does software sold by SHOPUTS have the same functionality as those available through the academic retail market?
A product purchased from SHOPUTS has the same functionality as a product purchased through the academic retail market.

Can I continue using the software if I am no longer employed by Florida International University?
No. Faculty/Staff Work at Home software  (Microsoft and Adobe) purchased through SHOPUTS is for FIU use only. Employees that leave the university must uninstall the software, and destroy or return the media to the SHOPUTS.

Is hardcopy product documentation included with my software purchase?
Hardcopy product documentation is not included with the license. Some products include extensive help files or digital manuals.

Does my software expire or can I use continuously?
It depends on the software. SAS and SPSS must be renewed annually but other software is perpetually licensed.

What are my delivery options?
Orders can be sent via USPS, or can be picked up at the SHOPUTS location specified at the time of checkout.

How can I get help following up on an open order?
Follow-up questions should be directed to SHOPUTS, either by e-mail or phone at or 305-348-2284 Option 5.

When is the SHOPUTS open?
The SHOPUTS is open Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm. Please call before coming over to confirm someone is available.

What is your return policy ?
If you return the product un-opened within 30 days, a 25% restocking fee will be charged. Shipping charges (if any) will not be refunded. Return of un-opened Microsoft, Adobe and opened products will not be accepted. If you wish to exchange or return your purchase and cannot visit our office, simply ship the item back to our office at the address listed below. Returned item has to be in the original packaging with your order number written outside of the package. All returned items must have all original labels in place and before of any signs of usage, tampering and dents. Please note that you are responsible for all shipping and handling costs when affecting a return of DOA, wrong part order, and non-used part. All non-defective, wrong part order, and part not used return will occur a 25% restocking fee.  You can always contact us if you have questions or need any assistance.
